Ohio State 43- Youngstown State-0On a hot August day, the fans experienced a one sided victory with the first step towards a trip to Miami and the National Championship game in January. As usual our day started with a 4:00 a.m. wake up call, game day prep by 5:00 a.m., followed by the 46 mile drive to Columbus and a great meal at Bob Evans at 6:00 a.m.. By 6:30 things were well underway and it was great to be greeted by Carolyn Nugent (Mike’s mom) at 7:00 a. m. and many fans along the way prior to the game. John Peters (Big Nut) of Fremont stopped by along with John Chubb (BuckIguy) of Columbus and finally Roger Thomas (LLWoody) of Tipp City, as the morning advanced. Several tailgate stops including The Beekman-Montag Tailgate, friends of Dr. Michelle Harcha, and the Franklin County OSU Alumni club rounded out the morning. A stop at the Nugent Tailgate along with the group of Steve And Mike Gower finished out the day in the parking lot near Ag Administration.
I had the honor of sitting next to Roger Thomas (LLWoody) during the game and enjoyed the hot sun and warm fellowship of fans. Game stats showed the offense running up nearly 500 total yards while the defense held the opponents to less than 100 yards. Several new faces and plenty of returning starters helped the crowd enjoy the day that was marred by the injury to Beanie Wells. Now that we are 1-0 it is time to turn attention to the Ohio University Bobcats and focus on game #2 on September 6th. We will be visiting many reunions of various alumni clubs and societies and spending quality time with College of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Reunion both Friday night and most of Saturday. Buckeyeman (Larry Lokai) Go Bucks 1-0
